If you are looking for a new and fun rec room game that the whole family can enjoy, then you may want to consider a shuffleboard table. A shuffleboard table is a great addition to your home, but there are so many options out there that it can be challenging to pick the right one.

Our favorite shuffleboard table is the Playcraft Woodbridge shuffleboard table. This table comes with everything you need to start playing. It also comes in four different finishes to perfectly match your home decor.

However, this table might not be the right choice for you, so along with our 10 favorite shuffleboard tables, we’ve also included a helpful buying guide with the features you should look for when buying a shuffleboard table.

Our Best Choice

We found it hard to look past the Playcraft Woodbridge shuffleboard table as our best choice table. This attractive shuffleboard table makes a perfect addition to any home rec room. The design of this table has been upgraded and we love the arched legs, and four wood finishes that look great in any space.

One of our favorite features of this particular table is that it comes in four different length options (9’, 12’, 14’, and 16’). The Woodbridge shuffleboard table comes with 8 pucks, wax and scoring abacus. For the price this table is by far the best option out there, and will look great in your home as well.

What We Are Looking For

If you love to play shuffleboard, and you are considering buying one for your home, you’ve probably figured out that there are all sorts of table styles, lengths, finishes, and price tags. Shuffleboard tables are not all created equal. So you need to be careful when shopping for a table for your home. To help you narrow the choices, we’ve put together a buying guide with some of the product features that you should consider when shopping for a shuffleboard table.

Materials
You’re going to be hard pressed to find a shuffleboard table that doesn’t cost a good amount of cash. So, when you make this investment you want to select a product that is going to last. That means that you need to purchase a product that is made from good quality wood. A nice quality table will be able to withstand the wear and tear of game play and everyday life. Ideally, your shuffleboard table should be made from hardwoods like maple, birch, oak and mahogany. These types of wood last a long time and can withstand dents and dings better than softer woods like pine.

The other material consideration that you need to think about when shopping for a shuffleboard table is the way the playfield is made. Some less expensive tables will use pressed wood as the base of the playfield and then cover that with a hardwood laminate. This isn’t a great option because the laminate will eventually start to separate from the base. For the best lifespan and most durability, make sure that the play field is made from solid wood; not a combination of lower quality materials.

Coating
The surface of the playfield is going to have a protective coating. Older tables used shellac or an acrylic lacquer as the protective layer. These were fine when they were the best option out there, but they didn’t provide the best possible protection from wear and tear.

Today’s tables are usually coated with some sort of epoxy resin. These extra hard layers over the hardwood playfield are designed to provide exceptional protection for your table, and a minimal amount of maintenance. You’ll still have to wax these tables for the best play experience, but you won’t have to worry about the epoxy resin denting if you should drop a puck now and then.

Size
The fun thing about shuffleboard tables is that they come in a wide range of lengths to fit in just about any space. In general, you’ll find that most shuffleboard tables range in length between 9 and 22 feet. This means that even with a smaller space, you can enjoy a shuffleboard table. Make sure that you measure your space carefully before you shop. You’ll want to make sure that there is at least 3-feet of space around all sides of the table. Knowing this will help you select the proper length shuffleboard table for your home.

Thickness:
Table thickness is also important as it helps to reduce the potential for warping and wear. Most competition style shuffleboard tables are 20-inches wide and 3-inches thick. The 3-inch thick playfield provides a long lasting flat surface for consistent play. This is the best arrangement for your shuffleboard table. However, there are a range of playfield thicknesses on the market. They can all work great for your needs, you just need to decide how much you want to pay, and how serious your level of play is. Shuffleboard tables with thicker playfields will be more expensive than thinner options.
